This is my favorite of a collection of guiloches over at the Ministry of Type. Created mathematically, it reminds me of the 4th grade project I did where we used colorful embroidery thread to make hypnotizing patterns on a piece of board with strategically placed nails. Of course, our equations were nothing like this:

The Sunday Book Review has a review of “Stop Me If You’ve Heard This: A History and Philosopy of Jokes” by Jim Holt. The review isn’t favorable, but it reminded me of a book I read years ago that profoundly changed my approach to humor.
